How does the Ivecop 3 mg works?

This binding causes increased permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions, causing cell hyperpolarization, leading to parasite death and parasite death.

Ivermectin is also thought to act as an agonist of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), thereby interfering with GABA-mediated neurosynaptic transmission in the central nervous system (CNS).

Pre-treatment evaluation of Loa Loa infection: Patients with significant exposure to endemic areas and treated with Ivecop tablets for onchocerciasis may be at increased risk of fatal encephalopathy.

Symptoms include neck pain, red eyes, urinary incontinence, faecal incontinence, mental status changes, seizures and coma. Therefore, a pre-treatment assessment for loa loa filariasis is necessary.

Use for children: Not recommended for children weighing less than 15 kg.
