What is it prescribed for?
- Type II Diabetes Mellitus
This medicine is used along with an appropriate diet and exercise regimen to reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.
When not to use?
Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to linagliptin, any other dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors, metformin, any other biguanides, or any other inactive ingredients present along with these medicines.
Severe kidney impairment
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a severe impairment of kidney function due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.
Metabolic Acidosis
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of metabolic acidosis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Type 1 Diabetes mellitus
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus since it is not effective in treating this condition.
Diabetic ketoacidosis
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of diabetic ketoacidosis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
